Lumos Networks Announces Fiber Connectivity into DuPont Fabros Technology Data Center Campus in Ashburn, Va.

New Relationship between DuPont Fabros Technology and Lumos Networks to Capitalize on the Continued Massive Growth of Bandwidth Demand

WAYNESBORO, Va. & WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Lumos Networks Corp. (“Lumos Networks” or the “Company”) (Nasdaq: LMOS), a leading fiber-based provider of data, voice and IP-based telecommunication services in the Mid-Atlantic region, and DuPont Fabros Technology, Inc. (NYSE: DFT), a leading owner, developer, operator and manager of enterprise-class, carrier-neutral, large multi-tenant wholesale data centers, announced today that Lumos Networks has extended fiber connectivity into DFT’s largest campus, located in Ashburn, Va., one of the most fiber-rich regions of the world. Lumos Networks is now connected with fiber to 33 data centers.

The DFT Ashburn data center campus includes six facilities and represents a total of 1.329 million square feet. It is estimated that 70% of the world’s Internet traffic passes through the Northern Virginia corridor, including Ashburn, according to the Loudoun County Economic Development Board.

“I am pleased to announce Lumos Networks as the newest network partner for DuPont Fabros Technology in our growing Ashburn campus,” said Vinay Nagpal, Director of Carrier Relations for DuPont Fabros Technology. “Enterprises, carriers, cloud services and Internet exchange providers across the U.S. and globally can now access Lumos Networks’ highly advanced, dense and secure Mid-Atlantic footprint with high-bandwidth options of 10Gbps+. We believe that the planned Lumos Networks 665 mile fiber network expansion into the Virginia metro markets of Richmond and Norfolk/Hampton Roads only enhances their attractiveness as a partner, giving our customers in Ashburn additional network options.”

“DuPont Fabros Technology is clearly the gold standard in the global data center business, and we are thrilled to announce our fiber connectivity into one of the world’s largest and most advanced data center campuses,” said Timothy G. Biltz, President and CEO of Lumos Networks. “Our approximately 1,000 enterprise and carrier customers are increasingly asking for secure, high-speed fiber connectivity into Ashburn and we are excited to work with our newest partner DFT to make that a reality.”
